Wedding at Isola d’ Elba, Tuscany

1600km, 18 hours of car, music, podcast and a unicorn. Part 2

In the previous post I was heading to Abruzzo, the Trabocchi coast, for the marriage of Valeria and Daniele.

After this extraordinary day and a good night’s sleep I put myself in the car to cross Italy horizontally.

From Torino Sangro di Marina to the Island of Elba. The trip is long.

A good part of the journey I traveled on local roads, some routes are not covered by highways .
It was about 8 o’clock in the evening, I was traveling along the state road S71 towards Follonica and I saw on the right an old and decadent golf club with the words “Open only for dinner”.

I was hungry and for half an hour I didn’t see restaurants or cafes, so I decided to stop, a bit discouraged to tell the truth.

Through a green gate surmounted by an arched writing “Golf Club”. I enter and walk a marble tile pathway that it will have been at least 50 years old.

The green painted metal tables, the Thonet chairs, green too of course, are all outside under a wine grape “veranda”.
Patty Bravo was singing “Pazza Idea“.

I sit at the last available table watching around.
It’s a dip in the funny 60’s movie “Sapore di Mare”. The music of the 60’s, families who toast with the dog crouched under the table.
The sea wasn’t so far away.

The owner approaches me smiling and suggests me the dishes of the day.
I choose spaghetti with clams that were so good, I would have ordered another one.

Frank N. Furter would say “Do not judge a book by its cover”. 😉

I drink a glass of white wine from the Tenuta la Chiusa of Portoferraio, tomorrow I will be in the same estate for the wedding of Annalisa and Simone.

The case does not exist 😉 .

I drink a coffee and fly to Piombino, the ferry to Portoferraio is waiting for me and tomorrow morning I will have a wedding!
